Waterproofing Brick

Postby the brummie » Sun Nov 01, 2009 11:18 am

Hi, I'm after some advice. I live on the East coast of the UK, with my house being the first thing the wind and see, and the driving rain hit. What waterproofing can i use with the salt content of the air being somewhat higher than most. Also when the wind blows a gail my living room window leaks and cannot find where it is coming from, would sealing the bricks help. I have had the house re-pointed but has not stopped the water.

The best product for waterproofing the brick itself would be Koster Facade Cream, this product hydrophobes the brick to prevent the rain soaking in. data sheet can be found at http://www.koester-bauchemie.com/uk_en/prodid-95-1884/4.20-fa%E7ade+cream.html. With regard to the leaking window, I can't really advise on this.
