NB1: In basement tanking scenario

Postby Basement jax » Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:45 am

I know all about NB1 and it's qualities, but what products (If any) need to be used in conjunction with the NB1, and do you have any products to give the wall a nice finish afterwards. I've also heard of problems with other systems of salt crystals pushing through the new plaster due to being pushed out from the wall, do koster products prevent this at all? Or is this just a problem one has to accept when tanking their basement?

I'll Break this answer down into sections:-

Finish- For a nice finish on the waterproofed walls restoration plaster can be used. This plaster comes in both grey and white. This plaster also tackles one of the other issues you brought up. In cases where there is high salt content in the wall, it will indeed push up, forming crystalisation on the surface. The restoration plaster tackles this is a number of ways, allowing breath-ability as well as providing hydrophobic properties.

Other Products to be used -

Repair Mortar Plus: We advise this for use as a fillet in the wall-floor junction, it is also used to even out the surface before NB1 is applied.
Polysil TG500: If you are having problems with high salt buildup in your wall, Polysil TG500 is used as a primer before applying the NB1.
SB Bonding Emulsion: This is used as a mixer for the NB1, making it easier to apply to the wall.

What I have told you above is just a rough guide to the basement tanking system, the following videos will give you more information on steps to application as well as some of the qualities that the products offer:-
